Love The Life You Live

So today I wanted to talk about something that is quite personal and close to home for me, but I figured it might help others. When I was younger I was diagnosed with depression - it took control of me and for a good couple of years I hardly ever left the house. Thankfully, after some help, I got a lot better. I've always had anxiety, and still do to this day, but i feel like I am getting better day by day and thought I would share with you how.

Please don't think that I am saying this post will help cure someone's depression/anxiety, because I am definitely not claiming this. However, these are the steps that helped me to take control of my life again and start loving my life, and I think they can be helpful for others, so here we go!!!!

Life is too short.
I think about this all the time, if I am worrying about something that won't matter in 5 years, why worry about it for even 5 minutes? Little worries can sometimes take over and make you feel worse, however I always try and remember this saying; most of the time, it really is not worth your time even worrying about it - you won't care about it in a years time. Oh, and if you can't change it, don't stress! (Easy for me to say I know, but if there is nothing you can do, worrying won't help you either.)

Focus on the good.
My boyfriend always asks me how my day was and if I reply with a 'it was ok...', he always asks me to tell him one highlight of my day. I don't think he realises how much that helps sometimes, it always encourages me to think of the good in the day, even if it was only a little perk. Forget about the negative, and focus on the positive. This also works with looking forward to good things in the future, there is always something to look forward to.

Say YES.
I can't stress this enough! I used to say no to a lot of things out of fear or worry. But here is a great example of why it's good to say yes: My two friends asked me to go on a blind date with their friend, who I had obviously never met in my life, normally I would have ran the other way and hid, but something told me to go for it, and I said yes. If I hadn't of said yes, I wouldn't be with my boyfriend of over a year or be moving out of my parents house to live with him and start out life together!! Just say yes, sometimes, who knows what could happen!

Don't care what others think.
I was terrible for this, especially at school, always worrying about what others thought of me, or if people liked me. Life is way too short to worry about what others may or may not think about you, more often than not, they don't think anything. People are so indulged in their own lives, most of the time, they are worrying about the same thing!! Do what makes you happy and don't worry about any one elses opinion. This old saying couldn't be more true; Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter, don't mind!

Anyway, I hope this was somewhat helpful for anyone who is a bit of a worrier like me! Let me know if you have any tips to stay happy in the comments below! 😃
